چکیده
This work focuses on the effects of inclusion proximity elastic behavior dilute matrix-inclusion composites. Rigid or soft monodisperse spherical inclusions are considered with moderate volume fractions. To conduct this study, Representative Volume Elements (RVE) an effective local minimum distance between varying sphere’s radius and one-tenth built. Numerical finite element calculations RVE performed. The obtained homogenized properties, as well phase stress moments (first second), compared to Mori–Tanaka estimates, which established for kind composite. fields (stresses) in microstructure respect is also analyzed. It follows that properties converge asymptotically estimates when minimal spheres increases. asymptote seems be reached around a equal radius. Effective behaviors show deviation can achieve even exceed (for second moments) ten percent close. impact inclusions’ proximities more important fields. maximum values (hydrostatic equivalent) than twice high locally.

Infinite-contrast periodic composites with strongly nonlinear behavior: effective-medium theory versus full-field simulations
This paper presents a combined numerical-theoretical study of the macroscopic behavior and local field distributions in a special class of two-dimensional periodic composites with viscoplastic phases. The emphasis is on strongly nonlinear materials containing pores or rigid inclusions. Full-field numerical simulations are carried out using a Fast-Fourier Transform algorithm [H. Moulinec, P. Suq...

The theoretical foundation of a variant on effective medium theories for elastic constants of composites is presented and discussed. The connection between this approach and the methods of Zeller and Dederichs, Korringa, and Gubernatis and Krumhansl is elucidated. A review of the known relationships between the various effective medium theories and rigorous bounding methods for elastic constant...
متن کاملComparison of Two Computational Microstructure Models for Predicting Effective Transverse Elastic Properties of Unidirectional Fiber Reinforced Composites
Characterization of properties of composites has attracted a great deal of attention towards exploring their applications in engineering. The purpose of this work is to study the difference of two computational microstructure models which are widely used for determining effective transverse elastic properties of unidirectional fiber reinforced composites. The first model based on the classic me...
